ALOR STAR: Delegates at the 63rd PAS muktamar today unanimously passed the motion to break the "tahaluf siyasi" (political cooperation) with PKR.
The final cut is pending the decision of the Syura Council, the highest decision making body of PAS.
The motion was brought by 21 divisions and the Ulama Assembly and was tabled by Central Ulama Assembly delegate Zulkifli Ismail.
He said PKR had broken the terms of the "tahaluf siyasi" and cited several examples.
These included PKR supporting Amanah candidates in the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by elections; failing to support PAS in strengthening the Syariah courts via the RUU355 move; and uncouth and rude statements by PKR leaders and their disloyal acts.
In debating the motion, a Pasir Mas delegate mirrored the allegations that PKR broke the terms.
He said the objective of PAS was always to implement a Syariah administration.
"Any obstacles in front of us need to 'diketepikan' (moved away)," he said to cheers.
Permanent chairman Hussain Ismail than called for a vote and told delegates who wanted to pass the motion to stand up and say "setuju" (agree).
He asked three times and each time delegates stood up and shouted "setuju" thereby passing the motion.
A decision by the Syura Council on the matter is expected tomorrow (May 1).
