JOHOR BARU: Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin has called on social media users to stop speculating over the death of the 11-year-old boy who was allegedly abused at a Kota Tinggi private religious school.
The Johor mentri besar said the speculation over the death was not helping anyone.
"The public should stop spreading rumours and unverified news, especially on social media, as this will confuse others and worsen the situation," Khaled said today after attending a cooperative society's meeting here.
Khaled said that the police should be allowed to investigate the case thoroughly and speculating would not help investigations.
He was asked to comment on the Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Jauhar's (MTAJ) decision, which had on Sunday posted on its Facebook six pages of notes written by the deceased, Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi.
The MTAJ, in the statement, claimed that besides a page in the boy's diary documenting his alleged torment, there were other pages which gave a clue to his real characteristics.
The MTAJ had said the notes had been handed over to the police.
