PAS may have 'shrunk' itself by refusing to cooperate with PKR: Mahfuz

ALOR STAR: A PAS parliamentarian thinks that the party seemed to have "shrunk" itself by breaking the "tahaluf siyasi" (political cooperation) with PKR.
Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar said severing ties with PKR showed delegates had chosen to move away from the mainstream political flow where voters wanted to see an opposition "grand coalition" to take on Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming 14th General Elections.
He questioned how PAS was going to attract its Malay vote base as those unhappy with BN and Umno would vote for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) or PKR while those not happy with PAS would chose Amanah.
"I think this is a missed opportunity for PAS to reposition itself," he said over dinner with the media on Sunday evening.
Mahfuz opinioned that the party had also missed an opportunity to attract more voters during the 63rd muktamar held over the long weekend.
He was not chosen as a delegate for the muktamar, and is widely seen as being sidelined from the party.
He is perceived as leaning towards Pakatan Harapan (PH) with many pro PAS social media sites openly telling him to leave the party.
The former PAS information chief however is not entertaining such thoughts despite being offered to contest under a PPBM ticket.
He thanked PPBM leaders for the offer when asked about the issue but stressed he still remained loyal to PAS.
