Guan Eng slams PAS' proposal to limit PM post to Muslims only

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is puzzled as to how PAS aims to attract non-Muslim voters by proposing for the post of prime minister to be limited to a Muslim person.
The DAP secretary-general said the proposal was provocative and was a dangerous beginning since such a suggestion could also extend to other posts.
He said the proposal may create fear and hatred against non-Malays and non-Muslims in the country and was against the Federal Constitution where everyone was equal before the law.
He questioned why the Islamist party was creating an issue when no non-Muslim has asked for the post.
"Even Umno has never suggested this," he said in a press conference yesterday.
The Islamist party in its recent muktamar (assembly) passed a motion urging the party leadership and parliamentarians to push the government to amend the Federal Constitution so only a Muslim can be the Prime Minister.
Lim also questioned the position of PAS after its strategist Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki reportedly said Barisan Nasional (BN) is better than Pakatan Harapan (PH).
He said this showed the party has lost its direction and that the people could see for themselves.
