Johor setting up special committee to face challenges in digital economy

JOHOR BARU: The Johor government is preparing a paper on the setting up of a special committee to examine the challenges and opportunities in the face of digital economy, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pix) said today.

He said it would also involve the setting up of a think-tank as part of the state preparations to face future challenges in the economic sector.

The state government is now identifying economic specialists to be in the committee, he told reporters after a retreat programme involving the state executive council members here.

Mohamed Khalid said the committee would comprise of at least 12 foreign and local economic specialists.

He said the setting up of the think-tank would be among the government's four main focus areas for this year.

The others are to ensure smooth implementation of all the touch points in the 2017 State Budget, Johor Strategic Growth Plan and the District Growth Plan, as well as to complete the Johor Development Report 2016, he added. — Bernama
