Bahrain King departs for Brunei after four-day visit

SEPANG: The King of Bahrain, King Hamad Isa Al Khalifa left for Brunei today after concluding a four-day visit to Malaysia.
Seeing the king off at Bunga Raya Complex, KL International Airport (KLIA) was Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein who was the minister-in-attendance.
The Bahrain King was accorded a state welcoming ceremony on Monday at Parliament House by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and cabinet ministers.
On the same day, King Hamad was presented with the Honorary Maroon Beret and the Honorary Paratrooper Wings of the 10th Para Brigade.
King Hamad's visit was also marked by the signing of an air services agreement and four Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in defence, small and medium industries, oil and gas as well as trade between Bahrain and Malaysia in Putrajaya yesterday.
The visit, at the invitation of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V, was the first to be made by a Ruler of Bahrain since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1974. — Bernama
