PUTRAJAYA: As the country's 60th Merdeka celebrations loom in several months' time, national carrier Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) has jumped on the bandwagon to participate in the "Negaraku" initiative.
Officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak at the Prime Minister's Office, here, the Negaraku initiative is a nationwide movement driven by Malaysians for all Malaysians with the objective of fostering unity among all and instilling the spirit of patriotism.
Also present were Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak, MAB chairman Tan Sri Md Nor Md Yusof and MAB chief executive officer Peter Bellew.
Bellew said Malaysia Airlines is proud to commit itself to the Negaraku initiative to underline its status as the only 100% owned Malaysian airline.
"I applaud this initiative for the country and we are proud and excited that Malaysian Airlines is able to play its role in spurring patriotism.
"Negaraku is a simple Bahasa Malaysia word that means My Nation but it means so much more than that.
"It speaks volumes for the pride and Malaysians have for each other and their wonderful nation.
"And we, the national airline, are proud to be part of that as we bear the Negaraku logo on behalf of each and every Malaysian whose flag we represent worldwide," he said.
In embracing the Negaraku initiative, Malaysia Airlines is incorporating the spirit of Negaraku across its collaterals on ground and online, as well as various touch points such as featuring the Negaraku emblem with special livery on a few aircraft.
Malaysia Airlines will also feature Malaysian heroes who have brought pride to the country in its in-flight magazine as well as presenting special content in the in-flight entertainment.
