SUNGAI BULOH: Fifty-one youths will be charged in court for gang related offences and creating a ruckus in Klang recently.
Selangor deputy police chief DCP Datuk Mohd Fuad Abdul Latiff said the 51 youths must produce themselves at the Klang magistrate's court on Monday morning.
"They will be charged under Section 143 of the Penal Code for illegal assembly.
"Under Section 143 of the Penal Code, the youths could face imprisonment of up to six months, or a fine, or both, upon conviction," he said after attending the handing over ceremony for the Sungai Buloh district police chief at the district police headquarters here today.
It was reported last week that Mohd Fuad said police are widening their crackdown against Gang 24 in Selangor as they are now working to identify all its members including students and tracing the gang's network in schools around the state.
He also said the state police have also roped in the Special Branch, to fight the illegal group and its recruitment of teenagers.
He later urged parents to monitor their children's communications via smartphones to prevent them from joining secret societies who have been actively recruiting members via WhatsApp.
On April 20, two video recordings showing a group of men believed to be members of Gang 24 causing a commotion outside a school in Klang went viral on social media.
The first video shows a group of people shouting and holding banners which read '24' and 'TD4' while the second video shows a cake with the words 'SMK Sri Andalas', '24' and 'Apache '.
