(Video) Boy whose hand got stuck in motorcycle rim receives welfare aid

ALOR STAR: A four-year-old boy who suffered a broken left hand after it got stuck in the rim of a motorcycle on Sunday, received RM300 in aid from the Kedah Social Welfare Department today.
Following the incident, Muhammad Qayyum Sobri had to undergo surgery to insert a piece of steel on his left elbow bone the following day. The incident which took place in Jalan Kuala Simpang went viral on social media.
The aid through the Social Welfare Department’s Instant Relief Fund was handed over by State Women and Family Development, Social Welfare, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Datuk Suraya Yaacob to the child's mother, Azizah Awang, 44, at the ward in Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
According to Suraya, in addition to financial assistance, the state Welfare Department also donated daily necessities to the mother of the victim who is a single mother to help ease their burden.
Azizah said Muhammad Qayyum asked her to buy ‘Nasi Kandar’ in Kuala Simpang located about 400m from their house.
"I took him along on the motorcycle and he sat at the back, but I did not realise when he took off the jacket he was wearing before the jacket was pulled into the rim of the tyre and he fell off the motorcycle when his left hand also got stuck in the rim. The public came to help when I screamed before the ambulance arrived,” she said. — Bernama
