Girl breaks leg after it gets caught in motorcycle wheel

PETALING JAYA: A seven-year-old girl heading for school broke her right leg when it got caught in a motorcycle's wheel at Kulim, Kedah, today.
Nur Amirah Mohd Romlan was riding pillion on her mother's motorcycle from their home in Taman Bandar Seri Mahkota to her school when the incident occurred.
It is learnt that the Standard One student's right leg was trapped between one of the motorcycle's wheels and its body frame while she attempted to shift her position on the vehicle during the ride.
Following the incident, Kulim Hi-Tech Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Azizi Abdullah said the team of firemen took about 30 minutes to release Nur Amirah's leg, which was twisted and broken before she was rushed to the Kulim Hospital for treatment.
The latest incident occurred after a seven-year-old boy broke his left arm after he fell off a motorcycle and found his arm lodged at the back of the vehicle, at Alor Star last week.
The boy who was also riding pillion on his mother's motorcycle, had dozed off and fell to the left side of the machine, trapping his arm between the motorcycle's frame and wheel.
The horrific incident was recorded by a dashboard camera from a car travelling behind the motorcycle.
Following the arrival of Jalan Raja Fire and Rescue station personnel who managed to free the victim, he was rushed to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for treatment.
