PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has reminded the Umno leaders to serve as role models to the public in the fight against corruption.
In a press statement today, the anti-graft commission said that leaders play a vital role in creating an ethical society.
"Umno leaders must place emphasis on the aspect of fighting corruption and abuse of power to serve as a good example for the next generation that will lead the country," the MACC said.
"Leaders not only play an important role in creating a peaceful society, but also an ethical society that refrains from participating in any acts of corruption and abuse of power.
"Therefore, leaders must ensure that the responsibilities entrusted upon them should be carried out with integrity and also stay away from any form of corruption."
MACC also urged Umno to pledge strong support to its recently launched initiative, Gerakan Revolusi Anti-Rasuah.
"MACC also hopes that every Umno leaders and members will be together with us in clearing Malaysia from corruption and abuse of power as well as be our main driver in making corruption the country's number one enemy," it said.
