JJPTR investors in Penang flock to main office to demand return of money

GEORGE TOWN: Investors in troubled high-yield investment scheme JJPTR made tracks to the main office here today after learning founder Johnson Lee had returned the capital of 100 disabled persons from the news.
Some came as early as 11am for the chance to be the among the first in line even though the office only opens at 1pm.
Tan Siew Mei, in her 40s, said she came to the office at Jalan Perak here to inquire when she can get her money back.
"I read in the news the OKUs (disabled persons) have received their money, so I am here to ask when can I get my money back," the nurse said when approached.
Another one in line was Chew Choon Ean, 65, who invested US$1,000 (RM4,346.10) who also came after reading the news.
Like Tan, she was also told to wait but this did not deter her confidence in the company which she believed will return her investment soon.
A staff theSun spoke to said JJPTR was now in the process of obtaining data on how many disabled persons have invested in the scheme in Penang.
theSun learned the scheme has attracted about 430,000 investors since it was launched in 2015.
JJPTR is under the spotlight after it claimed it loss RM500 million after its trading account was hacked.
