RAWANG: The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has been informed of recent developments in the state administration following PAS' decision to sever ties with PKR, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Mohamed Azmin added it was his responsibility to inform the Selangor ruler on the situation in the state, albeit not during an official audience at the palace.
"I gave an assurance of my responsibility and that of the administration to maintain the stability of the state and to ensure the mandate given by the rakyat will be continued until the 14th General Election," he told reporters after the officiating ceremony for the Perodua Mosque at the Perodua headquarters here.
The event was also attended by Sultan Sharafuddin.
PAS' Syura Council in a meeting yesterday had decided to cut political ties with PKR despite both parties being a part of the coalition government in Selangor.
In a statement issued following the decision, Selangor PAS said the party would remain in the state government to respect the mandate given by the rakyat in the previous general election.
Asked if he would officially seek an audience with the sultan at the palace, Mohamed Azmin said there was no need to do so.
