PUTRAJAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman will make an official visit to Qatar from May 13 (today) to May 17 to further enhance the bilateral relations between Malaysian and Qatar.
In a statement, Wisma Putra said the visit is on the invitation of Qatar’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Thani.
“The visit will provide an excellent opportunity for leaders of both countries to discuss various issues of mutual interest particularly in preparation for the state visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Hamad Al Thani to Malaysia in October,” it said.
Anifah is scheduled to have an audience with Sheikh Tamim Hamad Al-Thani, call on the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and meet his counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Thani.
Wisma Putra said during the official visit, Anifah is scheduled to attend the 17th Doha Forum that will be held from May 14 to 15.
The Doha Forum is an annual conference hosted by Qatar and focuses on issues related to political, economic, social, financial, security, human development and global economy, it said.
The theme for this year’s Doha Forum is 'Political and Economic Aspects in Refugee Crisis' which emphasises on pressing issues such as armed conflicts, terrorism, extremism, poverty and unemployment.
