PUTRAJAYA: A Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) project manager and a woman who were remanded for five days by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to facilitate investigations into alleged corruption, have been released today.
Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman allowed the duo aged 55 and 51, to be released on bail of RM20,000 with one surety each.
Both individuals were reportedly arrested by the MACC to assist in investigations in relation to bribery allegations related to a tender to supply goods for renovation of TNB offices in Kuala Lumpur.
According to a MACC spokesman, the suspects were both detained by MACC enforcement team in the Klang Valley on May 10.
He said in his capacity as project manager, the man allegedly allocated the tender for the project to another contractor when it should have been allocated to companies under the TNB panel.
As a reward for the tender the man is said to have received a BMW 5 Series from the other suspect, who owns a renovation firm.
The renovation works were believed to have been carried out in 2014 at several TNB offices in Kuala Lumpur, said the spokesman. — Bernama
