KUALA LUMPUR: The franchise industry is facing a tough time promoting its activities against an uncertain global economic landscape, said Datuk Mohd Latip Saruggi.
The Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) said despite budget constraints, it is doing its best not to cut back on promotional activities.
He said local franchise operators were also struggling with the fluctuating ringgit.
"Franchise operators who received products from foreign countries would feel the impact as the currency might cause the product to be more expensive.
"So when we talk about franchise's promotional activities, we are more keen to think of our survival," Latip told theSun when met at the 2017 Franchise International Malaysia (FIM2017) exhibition held at Putra World Trade Centre here yesterday.
Latip said FIM2017 has also embarked on a new programme such as business matching for exhibitors and consultation programme for visitors to have a better understanding of the franchise industry.
"This year, you can find business matching for other exhibitors. We have also introduced consultation day ... the objective is for visitors to have a better understanding of the industry. They will be given an opportunity to ask questions pertaining to franchising, financing franchising, training and others," he said.
