KUALA LUMPUR: PAS said today its three Selangor state executive councillors had received no instruction to give up their posts and that any decision on their service depended fully on the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said he had met the three councillors and had learned that they had received no instruction from Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to give up their posts.
"A state executive councillor is appointed by the Sultan on the advice of the Mentri Besar, and we respect their decision.
"The mandate given to them is up to the 14th general election (GE14) and we will safeguard the mandate up to the next general election,” he said at a press conference at the PAS headquarters here today.
Also present were PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan and Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) president Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir.
Tuan Ibrahim also said that PAS would have a meeting with its members on Thursday to discuss administrative matters, preparations for the general election and other issues.
"If there is a request to discuss the issue of the three state executive councillors, we will do so,” he said. — Bernama
