KAJANG: The 29-year-old primary school teacher, who allegedly molested six male students, is out on police bail after his remand expired today.
The suspect was remanded since last Friday. Police obtained a four-day remand order on the teacher, which expired on Monday. Police then filed an application to extend the remand on the teacher from a school in Bandar Baru Bangi until Thursday to allow further investigations.
The incident came to light after the six victims who are from a primary religious school lodged a police report on May 10 alleging the molest since 2014.
Kajang district police chief ACP Othman Nayan said the suspect was arrested on the day the reports were lodged.
"Six police reports have been lodged by parents and the guardians of the victims. The victims, who were aged between 11 and 12 claimed that the molest act had been going on from 2014," Othman said then.
He said the victims revealed that they had been afraid to report the matter earlier as they were ashamed, and feared the teacher.
The case is classified under Section 354/377D of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage a person's modesty.
