AN Australian man is facing 11 charges after he assaulted police officers in Singapore's Changi Airport while allegedly intoxicated.
Jason Peter Darragh, 44, was caught on video involved in a scuffle at the airport last month.
The video, which went viral, shows two police officers approaching Darragh, who was believed to be drunk. However, the man puts on his headphones and starts dancing instead.
When the officers try to escort him away, Darragh turns violent and hurls insults at the policemen, threatening them with vulgar language. In the scuffle, he knocks one of the officers to the ground and although onlookers and security guards try to intervene, they are no match for the burly Australian.
According to The Straits Times, Darragh has been charged with using vulgar language on police officers, using criminal force on them and causing annoyance to others while drunk in a public place.
Court records revealed that he was allegedly involved in other drunken sprees in the island city, including causing annoyance to a woman at a taxi stand and being found drunk and incapable of taking care of himself in a restroom at Orchard Towers.
Darragh's bail has been set at SG$20,000 (RM62,000) and he is scheduled to be back in court on Friday.
