Vans x Alyx sneakers capsule collection rolling out next week

FANS of the the iconic US sneaker brand can get their hands on three fresh new streetwear influenced designs, now on sale at Opening Ceremony, prior to the capsule collection's official launch on May 22.
Emerging LA-inspired label Alyx has revamped the OG Sk8-Hi, the OG Authentic and OG Style 36 unisex designs, in two color ways.
Vans' minimalist skate style gets a smattering of urban glamour with signature lighter silver-tone caps; lurex glitter-effect laces in pink or silver; logos on the shoe lace tips, tongue label, and back of the rubber heels. Additionally, the soles of the Authentics are accented with a repeating Alyx graphic.
Matthew Williams, Alyx studio's creative director, formerly behind the Dondo and Been Trill labels has relished the opportunity to design his very-first shoe with Vans.
"Vans were a major part of my childhood, growing up in California, skating, etc., and it felt really natural and important to include them in the world of Alyx," reveals the music-mogul turned designer who has worked with Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Kanye West and Alexander McQueen.
DazedDigital summed up Alyx's edgy fashion aesthetic as "sporty, streamlined and achingly cool". As further proof of Alyx's tendency to go against the grain, the launch of the debut AW15 collection was anything but conventional with no runway show or official presentation.
What's in a name? The New-York based label is named after Williams' daughter.
Raised in California, Chicago-born Williams has worked with top talents from the worlds of art, music, and fashion throughout his decade-long career, shaping a refined aesthetic universe grounded in street culture. His discerning eye and dynamic work ethic has shaped visual projects through print, digital, and live experiences with British photographer Nick Knight.
The Alyx x Vans line is exclusively available at the Opening Ceremony store in New York until Monday, after which it will be available via other retailers and at alyxstudio.com.
