SHAH ALAM: A PKR youth member today challenged PAS representatives currently serving in the Selangor government to resign after the severing of ties between the two parties.
PKR youth Johor delegate Naim Jusri said his party had initiated its steps by directing all PKR political appointees to resign from their posts in the PAS-led Kelantan government.
"I challenge PAS (members) in the Selangor government to resign. PKR has made the move," he said.
"They have to be brave to resign," Naim said during his policy speech debate at the PKR youth National Congress at IDCC.
PAS, despite severing its ties with PKR, has remained part of the coalition government in Selangor alongside other Pakatan Harapan parties.
The Islamist party secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan had previously said the three Selangor PAS executive councillors will remain in the exco for as long as they receive the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Takiyuddin added it was up to the Sultan if he felt Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi, Zaidy Abdul Talib and Datuk Iskandar Samad were no longer relevant or not needed in the state government.
Meanwhile, Naim remained confident that the opposition would be able to capture several more states in the next general election if the coalition is consistent in its struggles.
"We have governed Selangor and we will soon lead Johor. Then, we will conquer several other states including Sabah," he said.
"We will ensure that in the next general election, we will capture Putrajaya," he added.
