KOTA BARU: The role of the media is important in ensuring that the public receive accurate information on the role and success of law enforcement agencies in the country, says Acting Kelantan police chief, SAC Din Ahmad.
"We don't want the public to perceive the police, for instance, as manipulating crime rate figures to show a decrease ... we also don't want the police to be underestimated by the public."
He said this at a dinner function of the Kelantan state police contingent with the media here last night, held in conjunction with the 210th Anniversary celebration of the Royal Malaysian police.
Also present was Kelantan Darul Naim Media Club (Kemudi) president, Zailani Ab Rahman, and the district police chiefs.
On the arrest of a number of police officers by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission of late, Din said every officer and other personnel serving with the security forces knew of the disciplinary action that could be taken against them for misconduct. — Bernama
