KUALA LUMPUR: A new medical organisation dedicated to helping asthma patients, Asthma Malaysia, was launched today.
The non-profit organisation is dedicated to educating and empowering an estimated two million Malaysians suffering from this condition.
Asthma Malaysia is the brainchild of Dr Sundari Ampikaipakan and Dr Helmi Haja Mydin, consultant respiratory physicians who trained in the United Kingdom and have returned home under the Talent Corp's Returning Expert Programme.
"With our motto 'Helping Malaysians Breathe' we intend to evolve into an organisation that will proactively engage in research and policy to increase awareness of issues surrounding asthma," said Dr Sundari Ampikaipakan.
The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Ashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah launched the association.
The website for Asthma Malaysia is www.asthmamalaysia.org
