Increased tech use could deplete 65% of current jobs by 2027: Abdul Rahman Dahlan

PETALING JAYA: The increasing use of technological advancements could see Malaysia lose 65% of current jobs by 2027, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
He said the advent of the fourth Industrial Revolution or better known as the Digital Era will see the radical advancement and increased usage of technology.
This, he stressed requires Malaysians, especially the skilled workforce, to be empowered with skills in order to harness their talent and potential.
"We are unable to catch our breath because the world is moving at a fast pace with the digital economy.
"The government is putting high hopes on non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as the Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMM).
"We will invite the leadership of the chamber to meet the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak) and then meet me for matters relating to the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).
"We want to make sure of the use of technology to increase output and productivity, especially among Bumiputras in the future," he said when officiating the DPMM's 51st Annual General Meeting, at the Seri Pacific Hotel at the capital, today.
Also present was DPMM deputy president Datuk Mohamad Alayuddin Che Hasan.
