HERIOT-WATT University recently introduced its MSc Business Psychology postgraduate programme. According to the university’s professor of psychology, Dr Sue Cowan, the programme is in line with Heriot-Watt’s commitment in providing students with an internationally-relevant education to excel where they are.
MINDS IN THE MAKING
“Business Psychology is the study and practice of improving working life. It combines an understanding of the science of human behaviour with experiences from the business world, to attain an effective and sustainable performance,” said Cowan at a talk she delivered on “Business Psychology – A Pathway to Global Employability”, at the university’s recent open day.
The programme is said to be taught within a global context, allowing graduates to practise anywhere in the world. “Our students come from all over the world ... We actively capitalise on this cultural diversity during class and our students frequently comment on how much they learn from this approach,” Cowan added.
OF ONE MIND
Cowan also said that students undertaking Heriot-Watt’s MSc Business Psychology programme can expect to graduate with sound understanding of relevant academic knowledge and practical skills required to apply the knowledge learned in the classroom, in the professional world. “Graduates would have actually written a consultancy report, developed a diversity strategy and a leadership training programme and so on, which ensures the marketability of our graduates within the global labour market,” shared Cowan further.
TOP OF MIND
The open day also witnessed the university’s associate professor of psychology Dr Annie Crookes delivering her talk on “Psychology – A Path to Success”.
