JOHOR BARU: The Sessions Court has set July 5 for remention of a RM30.3 million corruption case involving former state exco Datuk Abdul Latif Bandi and a property consultant.
Session Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir fixed the date following a request from Deputy Public Prosecutor Khazrin Haffiz Khalil.
Abdul Latif is accused of abetting Amir Shariffuddin Abd Raub, while the property consultant is accused of accepting bribes for himself and the former, as an inducement to approve the release of a number of Bumiputra-reserved housing lots, for sale to the public.
The two are also accused of receiving bribes as an inducement to reduce the amount of contribution related to certain housing projects, to the Johor State Housing Fund.
They are alleged to have committed the offences at a bank in Larkin Perdana here between Nov 13, 2013 and October, 2016.
Khazrin told the court that the prosecution had submitted all the documents to the defence as required under Section 51 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
In urging for a postponement, he said both sides need time to go through the documents.
Abdul Latif was represented by counsel Datuk Salehuddin Saidin and four other lawyers while Amir was represented by counsel Asrul Z. Stork and Hazza Khalid.
