SHAH ALAM: A discussion between Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (pix) and state PAS leaders on Monday which was reported by media did not touch on the position of the Islamist party in the state government.
In clarifying the matter, Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, said the discussion was just a normal talk while waiting for the arrival of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in an event they were attending.
"We were just eating and drinking coffee while waiting for the arrival of the Sultan," he said.
"No (discussions on PAS' position). Instead, we discussed matters of 'Ukhrawi' (afterlife)," he told reporters when met after the Selangor Islamic Religious Department Teachers' Day celebration at Stadium Malawati.
A news portal reported that Azmin had engaged in a "serious discussion" with state PAS leaders during a function attended by Sultan Sharafuddin in Sekinchan on Monday.
The discussion involved the three PAS exco members as well as Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi.
Talks of political instability in Selangor arose after PAS decided to sever its political ties with PKR despite both parties forming a coalition government in Selangor.
Azmin however remained coy when asked by reporters on the fate of the three PAS exco members in the state's administration.
He dismissed talks that he had feared the state government would fall if an ultimatum was given to PAS' representatives.
"The issue of instability in the state does not arise. Our position is still stable," he said.
"It is not an issue whether they (PAS exco) will remain or not. There is no change (so far). We do not know what will happen tomorrow," he added.
