A 12-YEAR-OLD Japanese girl stunned an opponent twice her age in her MMA debut in Tokyo on Saturday. Momo Shimizu strangled 24-year-old Momoko Yamasaki unconscious in a choke hold.
The teenager fended off some early front kicks from her opponent before managing to get the winning grip on Yamasaki, who then fell to canvas.
Shimizu held on to her rear-naked choke until the end of the first round. The referee jumped in to check on Yamasaki.
He ended the fight as the older fighter was out cold, handing the 12-year-old a win on on her amateur MMA debut.
Yamasaki became a street fighter after being bullied in junior high school.
Shimizu came from a gym called Hakuhinkai Karate, which produced the undefeated 19-year-old Naoki Inoue, who has recently signed with UFC.
