Cannes 2017: the hottest hair highlights from the red carpet

WITH the 70th edition of the film festival in full swing, stars are rising to the challenge to compete for the prize for the best hair day.
This year, two distinct camps are forming: minimally styled versus radically irreverent color.
Like many a celeb at this year's event, messy chic was the watchword for Laetita Casta and Arizona Muse's red carpet hair.
The US model sported a subtly spectacular updo at the 120 Beats per Minute premiere. A leading name in the French haircare industry, Dessange gave Muse's short bob a fresh and funky mussed-up look.
The secret to the look? Curling irons with different barrel sizes. The appliances were used on some lengths to add texture while a few lengths were left straight. Chignon grips held the casual glam look in place.
Stars are opting for easier styling solutions.
Shocking color is emerging as a key hair trend at Cannes this year. Both US screen star and Chanel muse Kristen Stewart and British actress Michelle Williams rocked dramatic platinum crops.
Lighter than light shades are definitely having a moment. As her peroxide quiff and undercut hairstyle (courtesy of Dessange) proved, Tilda Swinton continues to champion the 'pale and decidedly interesting' movement.
The paler and the quirkier the better... even brunette bombshell Selma Hayek validated the trend.
The star underwent a reversible hair makeover for Kering's official dinner at Cannes, donning a rose gold wig styled by hairstylist Jennifer Peyez.
Colorist Aura Friedman dreamt up the shade that Allure magazine termed a "unicorn-frappucino inspired shade" - yet another daring hair moment for Cannes's back catalogue of kitsch looks.
Hayek showed her love for the temporary shade by posting five photos on Instagram, some bagging 'likes' in no less than six figures! That much endorsement is enough to make anyone hit the (bleach) bottle... — AFP Relaxnews
