Empowering Malaysian industry in the face of fourth industrial revolution

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian industry should be ready for the Fourth Industrial Revolution by acquiring more relevant knowledge to initiate cooperation between industry players and their clients.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau (pix) said people should enhance their knowledge of the revolution and strategise to best benefit from it.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution captures the idea of the confluence of new technologies and their cumulative impact on the world.
"The whole idea of the Industrial Revolution is knowledge, we innovate to resolve the problem and come up with the right market and revamp every market sectors such as in agricultural industry which had the least interest among the public previously," he said.
Madius said this on the sidelines of the 'Strengthening Industry-Academia Partnership' or SIAP conference at the UCSI University here yesterday.
Organised by the university, the conference aimed at creating awareness and enhance understanding of the latest revolution besides discussing potential impact to government, industry, education and society, as well as to strategise industry-academia partnership for its challenges.
The conference also stressed on the the importance of getting innovative ideas not just from people who ruled the industry but also from the industry and product users as well.
Those who attended included Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers vice-president Jacob Lee Chor Kok and UCSI vice-chancellor and president Prof Datuk Dr Khalid Yusoff. — Bernama
