Pahang crime index drops for first four months of 2017

KUANTAN: The crime index in Pahang dropped by 6.42% for the first four months of this year, surpassing the key performance index (KPI) target set which was five per cent.
Pahang police chief, Datuk Rosli Ab Rahman said that as of April, there were 1,297 cases recorded compared with 1,386 cases during the corresponding period of last year.
"Motorcycle thefts remained the main contributor to the crime statistics in the state with 369 cases followed by housebreaking at night (275 cases) and theft (252 cases).
"During the period under review, there was as a rise in murder cases with six cases compared with three cases for the first four months of last year," he told reporters after attending the monthly assembly at the Pahang Contingent Police Headquarters, here today.
Rosli added that snatch thefts had also shown a drastic decline when only one case was reported compared with 14 cases during the same period of last year.
Commenting further, he said Kuantan was the district with the highest number of crime rate which was almost 50% of the total cases in the state. — Bernama
