Datasonic's net profit falls slightly for Q4

    PETALING JAYA: Datasonic Group Bhd's net profit dipped by 5.2% to RM18 million from RM18.9 million in the fourth quarter ended March 31, due to higher direct cost for new projects undertaken in the quarter under review.
    This was despite revenue increasing by 25.1% to RM92.6 million from RM74.1 million for the same quarter in 2016.
    The revenue for the quarter under review was derived from supply of smart cards, consumables, passports and personalisation services.
    "The prospects for growth are expected to be satisfactory in the financial year ending March 31, 2018, barring any unforeseen circumstances," Datasonic board of director's said in a Bursa Malaysia filing.
    The group's net profit for the 12 month period stood at RM62.7 million, a marginal drop compared with the RM63.0 million from the previous financial year.
    Revenue for the financial year under review showed a 31.9% increase from the previous financial year to RM318.4 million from RM241.3 million.
