Esscom Special Joint Ops nabs 15 illegals in Felda Selamat

LAHAD DATU: The series 3 of the Special Joint Operation (OBK) to eliminate criminal elements, including Abu Sayyaf terrorist groups and Daesh militants from gaining a foothold in the district, has detained 15 illegal immigrants in six villages in Felda Sahabat near here.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) director Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said in the OBK conducted yesterday, the illegals who were all Filipinos, aged between 16 to 48, were arrested after they failed to produce valid personal documents when checked by the security forces.
"In the operation coordinated by Esscom, 450 individuals were checked in Kampung Tambisan, Kampung Long Patau, Kampung Lok Buani, Kampung Tanjung Labian Darat, Kampung Tanjung Batu and Kampung Tanjung Tegupi Laut," he said in a statement here today.
In the operation, he said two foreign men in their 20s, who worked as farm labourers, were arrested after they tested positive for drugs in the form of syabu while the district council also demolished 93 houses vacated by illegals in Kampung Kenali, Kampung Pangkalan dan Kampung Batu that were illegal built on state land.
He said the operations, jointly conducted by 530 officers and personnel of the various law enforcement agencies, was in line with the drastic action taken by the Philippines government in enforcing martial law in the northern Mindanao region.
"OBK also ensures that security control is beefed up in the border waters between Malaysia and the Philippines," he added. — Bernama
