KUALA LUMPUR: A true Malaysian will not attempt to sabotage and bring down the country but instead will strive to bring it to greater heights.
In stating this, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak implored Malaysians not to knock the country down and fight to bring it a better future.
Najib said he was excited and looking forward to seeing Malaysia as it progressed to the path of National Transformation 2050 (TN50), stressing that the country had an abundance of "good things".
"We should never, never knock down Malaysia, please. This is our country, we are born here and we are true Malaysians. We will fight for Malaysia for a better future," he said.
"Don't ever knock down your own country because we have a chance to make it even stronger, even better.
"Malaysia is a great success story and we will make it even greater in the future, Insyaallah (god willing)," he said in his speech at the launching ceremony of the TN50 Group of the Future at Alya International Gallery at Bukit Kiara today.
Najib said during the TN50 engagement session, he was asked by a young participant on protecting Malaysia's uniqueness as the country progressed to a better future.
"The uniqueness is that we are so diverse but we are all one Malaysia. This uniqueness will be a special feature of Malaysia.
"We do not want uniformity as it is not the way forward but we want to be as diverse as possible, with everyone living harmoniously and united as Malaysians," he added.
Najib also shared his excitement on TN50, stating that he felt inspired to be able to see his vision unfolding before his very own eyes.
"At the beginning, I honestly did not think that it will become a thing that is widely welcomed ... What started as an idea has now become a movement, a national movement," he said.
He added among the input he had received from youths on TN50 was for the country to emphasise on developing a city akin to Bandar Malaysia in other areas nationwide.
