Foreign woman found stabbed to death in Penang

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 28-year-old Myanmar woman was found dead outside a factory hostel in Taman Belimbing, Bukit Tengah after being stabbed six times.
Central Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the factory worker Tin Mar Moe, clad in her uniform, was found lying covered in bloodstains by passers-by at 8pm.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the scene showed the foreign woman being chased by a man after coming down from a factory bus around 7.30pm.
Nik Ros Azhan said a scuffle ensued and the man, armed with a knife, stabbed the victim's body before fleeing.
He said the 26-year-old Myanmar man left his bag containing his belongings at the scene and investigators managed to arrest him nearby.
He added a knife used to commit the crime and a mobile phone belonging to the victim were recovered while the body has been sent to the Penang Hospital for post mortem.
"The case has been solved with the arrest of the suspect," he said, adding that the case was classified as murder under the Penal Code.
