Khairy turns down question from news portal during PC

KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pix) reprimanded a journalist during a press conference, accusing the newsman of practicing "one-sided journalism".
During a session with the media after a National Transformation 2050 (TN50) event, a journalist from a news portal had posed a question to Khairy but was ignored.
Khairy, who is also the Umno Youth chief, then looked to his left and right searching for other journalists who intended to make a query, despite the said journalist continuing to pose his question.
Realising that no other journalist had questions, Khairy then told the news portal's representative that he would not be taking the question.
"I know where you are from. You practice one-sided journalism. No questions from you. Next," he said during the press conference at Alya International Gallery here.
This is not the first time Khairy has had an open confrontation with the news portal.
Last year during a press conference, Khairy had told his officer to record the answer he had given to a reporter from the same agency, stating that he did not want the news to be twisted.
He then continued to berate the newsman by saying that the journalist was "lucky" to attend the conference.
At the end of the press conference, Khairy made a gesture implying that the journalist was under his watch.
