Police detain two men for robbery, causing injury

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The police detained an insurance agent and a shop assistant in connection with a robbery at a family entertainment outlet in Bandar Perda here early yesterday.
During the 5.45am hold-up, a 43-year-old staff of the outlet was robbed of a mobile phone and injured by one of the robbers.
The suspects aged 34 and 35 were picked up by a police team on the same day, and the mobile phone belonging to the injured staff was recovered, said Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid.
He said the victim was treated at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital.
"Both suspects are believed to be involved in at least 10 robberies, as well as causing injury to victims in the SPT district since early this year," he said today.
In another incident, the police detained four male teenagers in connection with the theft of motorcycles in the SPT district and Seberang Perai Utara, during a raid at Seberang Jaya and Permatang Pauh here yesterday.
The suspects, believed to have belonged to a gang of motorcycle thieves were aged between 15 and 17, said Nik Ros Azhan.
"We also seized various motorcycle frames and components which were found dumped in Sungai Sembilang," he added. — Bernama
