Religious teachers killed in accident

KUALA TERENGGANU: Two religious teachers, who are a married couple, were killed in an accident at Km36, Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan near Kampung Serating, here yesterday.
In the incident at about at 5.35pm, Maimun Mamat, 48, and her husband Daud Setaffa, 55, from Marang were believed to be travelling from Kuantan to Kuala Terengganu when the vehicle driven by Daud was involved in a collision with a car coming from the opposite direction.
Maimun died at the scene due to severe injuries while Daud was pronounced dead at 7.32 pm after he was admitted for treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ), Kuala Terengganu.
The driver of the other car, a 29-year-old teacher from Kuala Terengganu only suffered minor injuries.
Meanwhile State Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department Supt Abd Razak Hassan, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed the incident.
He said the bodies of the couple had been brought to the HSNZ Forensic Unit for post-mortem. — Bernama
