KLANG: A six-metre long crocodile which was caught in Kapar on Sunday has died.
The reptile, which weighed about a tonne, was caught after it got stuck overnight in a pool near a power station in Kampung Tok Muda.
Firemen had been alerted about the reptile about 11.45pm on Saturday, and found that it was stuck in the pool of water as deep as nine metres.
"It took almost 12 hours to release the crocodile using special tools called the 'chain lock'," Sungai Pinang district Fire and Rescue Department chief Zaidi Ahtan said in a press statement.
He added that the time taken was long because the water space was small.
The reptile's remains will be sent to the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) for it to be brought to the Paya Indah Wetlands for the next course of action, he said.
