Admin assistant claims trial to 7 counts of submitting false claims

KUALA LUMPUR: An administrative assistant from the Defence Ministry was charged with submitting seven counts of false claims amounting to RM11,459, at the Sessions Court today.
Wheelchair-bound Siti Nor Hakiki Abdullah, 38, claimed trial to using documents to deceive her principal, Siti Kartika Sari Mohamad Salleh, an assistant administrative officer at "Markas logistik udara", at the Defence Ministry between August 12, 2013 to December 1, 2013.
In the seven charges, Siti is alleged to have used medical form 1/09 to claim for medical expenses at a pharmacy, by using receipts with false information, when in fact no medication was purchased by her.
MACC's Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Syakimah Ibrahim suggested RM10,000 bail with one surety and with the condition that Siti Nor Hakiki's passport be surrendered to the court.
Earlier, the accused who suffers from severe back pain, required assistance to sit in the dock.
From the dock, Siti Nor Hakiki who has yet to appoint a counsel, asked for a lower bail, she told the court that she has two children to support and added that her husband a former soldier, has no permanent job.
She also said that she suffers from other medical conditions and added that treatment for her ailments was expensive.
Sessions Judge Allaudeen Ismail granted bail of RM6,000 with one surety and ordered for her passport to be surrendered to the court.
He fixed July 26 for mention.
