Kim Jong-Nam murder case transferred to Shah Alam High Court (Updated)

SEPANG: The case of two women charged with the murder of Kim Jong-Nam has been transferred to the Shah Alam High Court.
Sessions judge Harith Sham Mohamed Yasin, acting as the magistrate, allowed the request by deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad during the case mention yesterday.
The High Court is expected to set a date for mention at a later date.
Muhamad Iskandar told the court that the case can be transferred to the Shah Alam High Court in accordance with Section 177 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) regarding transfer of cases.
Earlier, counsel Gooi Soon Seng, representing Indonesian Siti Aisyah, told the court that police and state prosecutors have yet to give the defence the airport closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the assassination or the autopsy report on Kim.
He said the prosecution had refused to accommodate numerous requests by defence counsel regarding information required for their case including CCTV recordings believed to be favourable to the defence.
Counsel Hisyam Teh Poh Teik who is representing Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 29, told the court that he shared similar sentiments with Gooi on the matter.
In response, Muhamad Iskandar guaranteed that the prosecution will definitely provide the defense counsels for both accused all information that they require prior to the commencement of trial.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Iskandar appeared for the three-man prosecution team while Siti was represented by Gooi.
Huong is represented by counsel Hisyam, Datuk Naran Singh and Salim Bashir.
Lawyer Datuk Jagjit Singh appeared as a watching brief for the embassy of the Democratic Republic of Korea.
On March 1, both women were charged in the magistrate's court with the murder of Kim Chol.
Kim Chol was the official identity of the murder victim, recently confirmed to be Jong-Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
Siti and Doan along with four others still at large, were accused of murdering Kim Chol at 9am on Feb 13 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2.
The murder charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
