MMEA transports slash victim out of Pulau Tioman to receive treatment

KUANTAN: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) deployed a rescue boat to transport a slash victim from Pulau Tioman to the Tanjung Gemuk jetty in Rompin, last night, to receive further treatment.
Eastern Region MMEA director First Admiral Datuk Mamu Said Alee said the agency received a phone call from the Pulau Tioman Health Clinic at about 9.20pm seeking help to bring the victim, a fisherman, to the Rompin Hospital.
"The victim, identified as Rosli Omar, 40, from Terengganu, was seriously injured on the left of his neck after he was slashed by another fisherman, and required urgent treatment at a hospital in Rompin.
"The MMEA then deployed the 'Penggalang 14' boat to take the victim from Pulau Tioman to Tanjung Gemuk.
"The boat arrived at the jetty in front of the Tanjung Gemuk MMEA post at about 3.30am," he said in a statement to reporters this afternoon.
The victim was rushed to the Rompin Hospital before being referred to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA), Kuantan," he said.
The case is now understood to have been handed over to the Mersing police for further investigation.
