Nude makeup rules the red carpet at Cannes 2017

THE Cannes Film Festival was a makeover marathon for the makeup artists and hair stylists working tirelessly on the French Riviera to ensure models and actresses stepped out onto the red carpet looking their best.
Although typically a high-glam affair, this year's Cannes Film Festival channel a more natural style vibe both in beauty looks and hair styles, despite an inevitable handful of exceptions. Here's a look at some of the hottest makeup trends from the Cannes festival fortnight.

Red lip vs nude lip
In keeping with current beauty trends, skin was largely natural at Cannes, cleverly playing on light thanks to techniques such as highlighting, strobing, contouring and even draping, which sculpts the face with blusher. The result is a glowy, flawless complexion that's fresh and radiant, harnessing the power of light to the wearer's advantage.
Almost all of the celebrities attending this year's festival rocked this kind of base, including Elle Fanning, Barbara Palvin, Bella Hadid, Elizabeth Olsen and Nicole Kidman.
Pastel shades were popular for eyes (pale pink, beige, oatmeal), as seen on Liu Wen, Diane Kruger, Jourdan Dunn, Charlize Theron and Doutzen Kroes. However, some stars opted for graphic eye makeup with a long, bold line of eyeliner (Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Lily Collins), while others wore colorful eye makeup (Eva Longoria, Kristen Stewart, Deepika Padukone, Lily-Rose Depp). Note that gold and silver returned to this year's festival, but they were less present than last year.
There were two main trends for lips at Cannes: the red lip, for classic festival glam (Nicole Kidman, Adriana Lima, Bella Hadid, Jessica Chastain, Fan Bingbing), and the natural lip, with nude shades (Diane Kruger, Elle Fanning, Marion Cotillard, Rita Ora, Charlize Theron, Uma Thurman, Robin Wright). — AFP Relaxnews
