JOHOR BAHRU: A group of six friends are taking an opportunity to perform charitable activities during the fasting month by offering free flavoured drinks to the local community here as part of a meal to break fast.
Engku Munirah Engku Ismail, 29, said the idea cropped up after she often encountered families who could not afford to buy flavoured drinks during the fasting, especially for their children to break fast.
"So the six of us prepare the drinks everyday during Ramadan and we offer them for free to anyone who wants them," she said when met at Taman Pulai Utama, near here, this evening.
According to Engku Munirah, they had set up stalls in front of a row of shops in the housing estate since the second day of Ramadan, offering about 200 drink packs of various flavours.
She said there were also people who presented her with sugar as they also wanted to help in the noble cause. — Bernama
