Cops smash drug-peddling Gang 36 with arrest of six

GEORGE TOWN: Police have crippled a drug-peddling group, known as Gang 36, with the arrest of six men in Seberang Perai on Wednesday night.
Bukit Aman Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group assistant director chief SAC Zulkifli Ali said police arrested the six self-employed men, aged between 21 and 45 years old, at North and South of Seberang Perai during a raid held about 10pm.
Police seized 21kg of Syabu, 7,800 Erimin 5 pills and 18gm of ganja at the suspects' house.
"The suspects had modified two big speakers and hid the drugs in them at the premises," Zulkifli said. "The drug's street value amounts to RM1.63 million.
"We have also seized RM9,444 in cash, jewelleries and five luxury cars. The seized goods are valued at RM276,000."
The six suspects had previous criminal records involving drugs. One of them had tested positive for drug. All the suspects are remanded for seven days.
The case is investigated under Section 39A of Dangerous Drugs Act 1957 for drug trafficking which carries the mandatory death sentence, if found guilty.
