ON Sept 13, David Gilmour's concert film "Live at Pompeii" is to be shown in more than 2,000 cinemas worldwide, featuring highlights from two shows performed in the ancient Pompeii amphitheater.
Performed over two days on July 7 and 8, 2016, the shows saw Gilmour return to the Roman amphitheater where, 45 years earlier, he played there for the concert doc "Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii." The 2016 concerts marked the first-ever rock performances played to an audience at the venue, located in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius.
"David Gilmour Live at Pompeii" will feature songs from throughout Gilmour's solo career as well as a number of Pink Floyd classics. Both of the July shows also featured rare solo performances of "The Great Gig in the Sky" from "The Dark Side of the Moon."
The accompanying audio-visual experience included lasers, pyrotechnics and a giant, circular cyclorama screen.
Details of cinemas taking part in the one-night-only screening can be found at www.davidgilmourcinematickets.com. Tickets are now on sale worldwide, with additional cinemas, including locations in Latin America, expected to be added soon. — AFP Relaxnews
