Govt announces 'Raya' special aid of RM500 for civil servants, RM250 for pensioners

PUTRAJAYA: The government has agreed to provide a special financial assistance of RM500 to nearly 1.6 million civil servants in preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2017.
The Ministry of Finance announced in a statement today the special financial aid would also be enjoyed by nearly 775,000 pensioners in recognition of their service with a total sum of RM250 each.
"Payment for special assistance will be made before June 9," the statement said.
It also said that special financial assistance to civil servants and pensioners would involve a budget allocation of RM1 billion.
"The government hopes that this special assistance can alleviate the financial burden on civil servants and pensioners for the preparation of Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2017," it said. — Bernama
