Calf with human-like features causes stir

A DEFORMED calf with almost human-like features caused a stir in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, yesterday. Unfortunately, it died barely an hour after its birth at an animal shelter.
It was born with eyes, nose, and ears that resembled that of a human. News about it spread and villagers nearby began visiting to view the calf.
A 37-second video of it has gone viral. People can be seen offering flower garlands and bowing before the dead calf, which has been kept inside a glass box since it died.
Dr Ajay Deshmukh, senior veterinary doctor, at Wildlife SOS, in India, said: "This is a case of an anatomical anomaly. If a gene didn't develop properly or there was a fault, it causes multiple structural deformities, and such anomalies happen."
