JOHOR BARU: Three men escaped unhurt after a light aircraft Piper PA28 (9M-DRC) from a flying school in Senai crash-landed on a bridge near the Lima Kedai Toll Plaza at the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link (Linkedua) early this morning.
According to a spokesman from the Kulai Fire and Rescue Department, they received a distress call about 10.30am and a fire engine with four personnel rushed to the scene.
"Three people, including the pilot, escaped unhurt," he said, adding they took about two hours to clear the area.
The operations ended at 12.34pm.
The PA-28 is a family of light aircraft built by Piper Aircraft and designed for flight training, air taxi, and personal use.
Meanwhile, Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) director-general Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said the light aircraft was handled by an aviation company.
"The company was in the midst of conducting a training exercise.
"The Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) of the Transport Ministry will investigate the cause of the crash," he said in a statement today.
