More arrests could be made following death of navy cadet: Police

SHAH ALAM: Police have not ruled out the possibility of making more arrests in relation to the case involving navy cadet Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, who died after he was suspected to have been abused.
Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat said the police were also tracking down several other individuals to assist in the investigations.
"So far, 36 students aged between 20 and 21 have been remanded until June 9 to assist in the investigation and we are not ruling out further arrests," he told reporters when met after a pinning of ranks ceremony for more than 300 personnel and officers, as well as an Excellence Service Award certificate presentation, at the state police contingent headquarters officers' mess today.
He also refuted claims where a bomoh was sought by police after there were that help was sought from a bomoh to identifiy Zulfarhan as the thief who stole one of the suspects' laptop, which resulted in the assault on the serviceman.
Abdul Samah said his men are also looking into claims that Zulfarhan was accused of stealing a laptop belonging to one of his friends.
However, he said they have not received a police report from anyone on this.
Meanwhile,Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said they have seized several items as part of the probe.
Fadzil declined to reveal the number of witnesses that have been interviewed so far, but said that the doctors who had treated Zulfarhan were among them.
Zulfarhan, a 21-year-old Malaysian National Defence University (UPNM) third-year student, died on June 1 at 9pm at the Serdang Hospital, allegedly due to bullying.
